Description

Free Fun

Free Fun is a 1-page reading, speaking and writing lesson pack for Grades 2 and 3. It poses the problem of paying money to go to theme parks compared with free fun in the outdoors.

The story is written with target spelling patterns for this year level. The problem encourages the student to discuss and form an opinion.  The child then writes a response. Bee’s Knees Reading Method suggests two readings of a text. The first reading is for decoding the words. The second reading is to bring it together.
>>The word matching activity reinforces the spelling of the target words.
>>The discussion helps the child to form an opinion.
>>The writing task gives the learner practice. Encourage the child to go back to the text to find words that will help them write better. Remind the learner about capital letters at the beginning of sentences.
