Word Lists – Phonics

Word Lists – Phonics  are lists of words with common spelling patterns on A4 for Prep to Grade 3 or 4.

The Package 3 has:

• -ea- and -ai- vowel teams, -ow endings such as yellow and other words with two syllables.
• -ee- vowel team, and -ea- words that make the sound as in head.
• -oa- vowel team as in boat, and
• -ow- such as show and other words with one syllable, -aw-  such as dawn, and -au- such as because.

The package labelled No 4

• takes the student/s into new spelling patterns. Words with -or-, -ir- and -ur- are listed, such as short, girl and church.  Words with -ore are included, such as shore, and –oar such as boar.
• There is a collection of words that show a child the effect of the ‘bossy e’, such as hug and huge, cut and cute.
• Words beginning with qu is the last sheet and includes most words that primary school children will come across, such as queen and quarter.
