Word Lists A – Phonics, Literacy, Prep to Grade 3

$5.00 $0.00

Word List – Phonics  is a free pack of 10 A4 pages of words in large print. They are suitable for any early primary school child. Reading aloud with a child helps him or her to learn common patterns of spelling. “Say the word, repeat the word.”

This helps to address the problem in many classrooms of learning words in isolation from each other.

Children start to “get it”. They find out that there is a logic and sense in the way words are written. So the first pack of 5 pages works on short words with short vowels – a, e, i, o, u.  The second pack uses common spelling patterns such as words ending in -ay, vowel teams such as ai and ea or initial letter teams such as th and sh.

Reasonable duplication is permitted under this Copyright for teaching purposes for a group of any size.

Description

Word Lists – Phonics, Early Years

Word Lists – Phonics  are lists of words with common spelling patterns on A4 for Prep to Grade 3. There are 4 bundles and each bundle has 5 sheets. These are divided into 2 separate products. There is this one for the early grades and Word Lists – Phonics for Middle Primary.

What Is In  Word Lists – Phonics

The package labelled No 1 has

  • 3-letter words mainly, with short vowels, such as rat, fed, tip, pop and cut.  There is one page for each vowel.

The package labelled No 2

  • takes the child into new spelling patterns. Words ending in -ay such as lay-ai- vowel team  such as mail, and words ending in ow such as yellow.

How To Use The Packages

Anyone can take a child through these lists. Using these lists

helps the child make sense of spelling and pronunciation patterns.

It also speeds up reading and quick recognition.

A child needs to see a word 40 to 60 times to read it easily. This principle of literacy education does not include being able to write a word. Writing skills are very different and lag behind reading.

  • There is a brief guide at the top of each sheet.
  • Frequency is the key to success.
  • Encourage the child to sound the word out.
